Satyamev Jayate has made life tough for her:Kiran rao

Labels: , ,

Filmmaker and superstar Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao says the actor’s new TV show Satyamev Jayate has made life tough for her as he has started bringing work home. “This show has made my jeena haram (life tough) on many levels because Aamir has worked on the show night and day and in my house,” the 38-year-old said. “So my house has been full of writers and people from Star (Plus), and Aamir and they have all the big team in my house day and night. So, I am waiting for the show to come on air and slowly, hopefully my life will also go back to normal,” she added.

Satyamev Jayate will go on air on Star Plus on May 6. The concept of the show has been kept under wraps, but its theme song is receiving a positive response. Rao also admits to being in love with it. “Satyamev Jayate is an amazing song. I really loved it and they went all over the country to shoot it, which was really exciting,” she said, adding that she regrets not being a part of the show.

“(I was) Very sad that I couldn’t be a part of his show. It’s been such a journey for Aamir. The promos I hope reached out to the people and people will watch the show,” she said.

Satyamev Jayate will mark Aamir’s debut on the small screen. It is unique as it will be the first ever programme to go live simultaneously on a Star Plus and national broadcaster DD1.

While Aamir has been busy with the show, Rao has been spending time with their five-month-old son Azad (who was included in one of the promos of Satyamev Jayate without Kiran’s knowledge). She says motherhood is keeping her away from starting anything new. “I am actually going to begin writing something. I hope I have the head space to start writing. I am still very much a full-time mother hoping to find the space to work and write something new,” said Rao, who became a mother in December last year through surrogacy. Her last film as producer was Delhi Belly and she made her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat.

Kareena Kapoor to play Queen Arundhati

Labels: , ,

After playing walk-in-walk-out parts in films like RA.One and Agent Vinod, it looks like Kareena Kapoor has finally decided to do some significant roles. After bagging the much-talked about role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, the actor is now gearing up to play the challenging lead role in the Hindi remake of 2009 Telugu film Arundhati.

Directed by Telugu director Kodi Ramakrishna, Arundhati is a fantasy film which had turned out to be a box office hit. The original film starred Anushka Shetty who had bagged many awards and tremendous accolades for her brilliant performance. And now our sizzling Bebo will be seen playing the mysterious queen – a very powerful character in this woman centric drama.

We hear that Katrina Kaif and Rani Mukerji were also approached for the same role, but they could not do the film due to date problems. Apparently, Bebo adjusted her busy calendar to play the legendary character. Sonu Sood, who played a baddie in the original movie, is going to retain his role in the remake as well.

Kareena is busy working on Heroine right now, after which she will start shooting for Arundhati’s Hindi remake. A little birdie has chirped to us that Priyadarshan was to make this film in Hindi, but he can’t direct the film at such a short notice. The original film’s producer M Shyam Prasad has the rights to remake the film but he’s yet to finalise the director for the Hindi version. Amidst all this there’s a strong buzz that Life In a Metro, Murder, Gangster and Kites director, Anurag Basu, is most likely to don the director’s hat. Anurag has never worked with Kareena before, so this should be an interesting combination to look out for.

The last time Bebo played a royal woman, was in Asoka where she played Princess Kaurwaky, but that one turned out to be a dud at the BO. But that’s in the past. As of now, with two woman centric films in her kitty (Heroine and Arundhati), 2012 is definitely turning out to be an extremely lucky year for Kareena! check out some hot collection of her previous movies and photoshoots .click to enlarge.

The Dirty Picture not allowed to broadcast in prime time even after 58 cuts

Labels: , ,

Sony TV was scheduled to air The Dirty Picture at 12 pm and 8 pm on Sunday, but a last minute verdict by the Information and Broadcast Minsitry of India has stalled the broadcast of the Vidya Balan film. This move came after the High Court had already cleared the 2011 hit after 58 cuts and issued a U/A certificate.

The channel hasn’t made it clear when the film will finally be aired, but this decision has definitely come as a big blow to the channel. The viewers were caught completely unawares as full page adds in newspapers and TV promos on Sunday morning advertised the broadcast of the film. But just at the time when the movie was scheduled to start, the channel displayed a message: For unavoidable reasons we regret to inform The Dirty Picture will not be telecast today. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted. While Sony has refused to make any comments to the media at this point, the lead actor of the film Tusshar Kapoor gave a statement on Twitter saying, “Really unfortunate that after all the necessary cuts and a valid UA certificate. The Dirty Picture could not be telecast today on sony tv!In light of recent events that exposed the dark side of Bollywood, The Dirty Picture was well timed as it depicts a similar harsh reality!Sad that inspite of being acclaimed for it’s entertaining realism & having won 3 National Awards the regulatory forces have stalled the show (sic).”

Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures also commented on Twitter. “Sorry to everyone who’s been messaging and calling this morning. Been on the phone continuously. It’s unfortunate that even after …a valid censor cert being in place, the telecast was held! The cuts made to TDP were done in a manner that would not offend the larger populace but completely retain the film’s creative integrity!Despite the cuts and a CC, forces in Delhi decided to hold the telecast! The Dirty Picture trending. That’s the point abt its popularity. The most discussed& celebrated National Award-winner is nt allowed 2telecast (sic),” he wrote.

Now, when the channel will finally decide to air the movie remains to be seen. But we wonder why the film was put through 58 cuts if in the end the channel was going to be ordered to broadcast it after 11 pm!

Kareena kapoor refused karan johar's film with emraan hashmi as co-actor

Labels: , ,

Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor’s dream to bring together the glam diva Kareena Kapoor and hero of the masses Emraan Hashmi in a thriller to be directed by a newbie will no longer come true. Bebo did confirm that she isn’t doing her friends’ co-production, but did not put a finger on the problem she had with the project. Maybe it was to do the pairing with Emmie or maybe not. However, one of the reasons we have been hearing from insiders is that the Heroine lady wasn’t swayed away by the story and would rather prefer Karan Johar’s staple style of films – the candy floss story weaved in a larger than life scale.
/>

Whatever is the reason, we are sure the latest development is a disappointment, particularly for Emraan, but he shouldn’t really take it to heart. ‘Coz for an actor who began his career with newcomers like Geeta Basra, Sonal Chauhan, Tanushree Dutta and others, it’s good to know that Bebo was even being considered for a project opposite him. Don’t you agree? We think, apart from the unexpected box-office success of The Dirty Picture, the steady collections of Emraan’s film at the box-office and his unfailing performance in them are responsible for the big fishes opening up their golden gates for the Jannat 2 actor.

And like Bipasha Basu, who had apparently turned down a film with Emraan in the past but is now paired opposite him Raaz 3, Bebo too may turn back and retrace her steps in the future. Coz a Friday is all it takes to change fates in B-town!
